Humantay lake day trip from Cusco: If you would like visiting a natural wonder in the Andes of Peru, this excursion on the outskirts of Cusco is definitely your cup of tea; we depart very early in the morning from Cusco city along with other nature lovers by bus towards Mollepata district, where we will have our breakfast.
HIGHLIGHTS
Meeting place — at about 04:30
We will pick you up by bus from your Hotel — as long as you stay in the historic center, otherwise we will coordinate another meeting place according to your convenience.
Cusco to Mollepata by bus
We depart by bus from Cusco city early in the morning to a small town known as Mollepata, where we will have breakfast, the bus ride is for about 2.5 hours — The Mollepata town is located at 2684 m.a.s.l.
Mollepata to Soraypampa by bus
After an energizing breakfast, we will continue driving for approx. 1 hour towards Soraypampa, which is an indigenous community located at 3900 m.a.s.l.
Soraypampa to Humantay Lagoon on foot
After approx. 4 hours of travel by bus, we will finally start the short trek towards the most beautiful lagoon of Cusco: Humantay. The route is steep, but luckily, you will only hike for about 1 hour. Keep in mind that Humantay is located at 4200 m.a.s.l.
At Humantay Lagoon
Upon arriving at this small lake, our guide will explain the history of this natural beauty and its agricultural and mystical importance for the surrounding communities, then you will have 1/2 hour free time to take the best photos and relax.
Lunch in Mollepata at about 13:30
We return on foot from the Humantay lake to Soraypampa lagoon, then we will take the bus to Mollepata, where we will have some delicious lunch.
Return to Cusco by bus
Tour ending place — at about 19:00
We finish this tour two blocks away from the Plaza de Armas — this tour doesn’t end at your hotel.

Acclimatization
You should be acclimatized with at least two days of stay at altitude.
Vehicle type and seats
Vehicles:
- Authorized by the Ministry of Transportation of Peru.
- Clean and modern ones.
- Sedan looking auto, 4×4, H1, Van, Renault and Mercedez Benz (it will depend on the group size).
Seats – group tours:
- You reserve a seat in the bus, not a specific number of seat.
- If you get picked-up first, then you can choose some seats (your pick-up time will depend on your hotel location).
- Couples seat together to 95%; however, we can’t warranty this will happen to 100%.
Road
- Paved track.
- The last part of the road is compacted dirt.
- The road is bumpy sometimes.
- Dust sometimes enters vehicles

Authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism. This tour is focused on trekking, not history.

Driver
- The driver sometimes drives fast due to distance and time constraints.
- If you book a private tour, the driver will drive at a normal speed.
- The driver sometimes listens to music to stay awake.

Kids, minors, students and Peruvians may have discounts but an official ID is required to show:
